The Manager of Credit and Energy Risk will reside within the middle-office function and play a key role in the risk management of energy marketing and trading activities across Clearway’s portfolio of renewable and conventional generation assets. This position is responsible for counterparty credit risk management and compliance with risk policies and covenants in commercial agreements. The Manager will ensure that Clearway maintains a risk-oriented mentality as the platform expands into new technology and dynamic market structures, by understanding current and emerging risks across all North American wholesale energy markets. This is a highly visible role for a detail-oriented individual to excel within a growing risk management group. The position will report to the Senior Director of Credit and Energy Risk. This is a hybrid position located in one of our office locations in San Francisco, CA, Scottsdale, AZ, San Diego, CA, and Houston, TX. Responsibilities include assessing initial and ongoing creditworthiness of counterparties, establishing credit lines, ensuring appropriate collateral and credit support arrangements, overseeing daily margin calls, collaborating to promote prudent risk management culture, assisting Front Office with compliance and negotiation of commodity agreements, working collaboratively with front and back-office staff to identify and mitigate risk, creating dashboards for credit exposures and risk metrics, managing Project Limits, reporting to senior management and Energy Risk Committee, preparing risk issues for committee approval, participating in ETRM vendor initiatives, ensuring accurate recording of counterparty and contract information, and coordinating reporting of non-compliance incidents. Requirements include a Bachelor’s Degree in economics, finance, business, mathematics, or related discipline, 5+ years of credit risk experience in energy trading or commodity environment, solid credit analytical skills with experience negotiating energy-related agreements and collateral, thorough understanding of exposure calculations and trading instruments, and strong communication skills. Preferred qualifications include direct renewable energy experience, CPA / CFA designation or progress towards it, advanced Excel, PowerBI, and Bloomberg skills. The role does not sponsor non-immigrant visas. The pay rate depends on location, skills, experience, education, and other factors, with an annual cash bonus eligibility.
