Job Opportunity With U.S. Customs And Border Protection

This position is with the Department of Homeland Security, within U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Office of Field Operations, New York Field Office, Office of the Director of Field Operations, located in New York, NY. Responsibilities This position will allow you to use your expertise in administration overseeing the implementation of programs and policies related to a variety of administrative processes. This position starts at a salary of $72,017.00 (GS-09, Step 1) to $113,268.00 (GS-11, Step 10). In this position, you will strengthen the Department's ability to protect the homeland by becoming a valuable member of a team of administrative professionals. Your job will include : Interpreting laws, regulations, and policies to researches complex questions and works with appropriate program offices to resolve issues. Monitoring sensitive information systems to ensure compliance with performance management requirements Conducting research and utilizing knowledge of procurement sources and techniques to effectively and efficiently execute a supply program that supports port operations and operates within allocated supply budget Planning, scheduling, and conducting projects and studies to evaluate and recommend ways to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of work operations Assisting in the location and collection of information and referencing materials on issues and activities of current interest to the Director, Field Operations

Qualifications

Experience : You qualify for the GS-09 grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as : Assisting with the process of handling complaints and assisting with office response to complaints / grievances / arbitrations Assisting with sensitive management referrals that are remanded for resolution relating to labor management Preparing and tracking a variety of reports and studies from a variety of automated systems and identifying discrepancies Handling incoming and outgoing office correspondence Experience : You qualify for the GS-11 grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as : Providing counseling to employees on pay, benefits, and leave Managing the in / out box for the manager, including correspondence relating to Bargaining Unit grievances, management referrals, and oral replies Assisting in the research of procurement resources and techniques to effectively and efficiently execute a supply program that supports operations Recommending ways to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of work operations Education Substitution : GS-9 : Successful completion of a Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in any field, or a L.L.B. or J.D. for the experience required at the GS-9 grade level. Such education must have been obtained in an accredited college or university. Check with your school to determine how many credit hours comprise two years of graduate education. If that information is not available, use 36 semester or 54 quarter hours. You are required to submit proof of your claim. GS-11 : Successful completion of a Ph.D. or an equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in any field, or L.L.M for the experience required at the GS-11 grade level. Such education must have been obtained in an accredited college or university. Check with your school to determine how many credit hours comprise three years of graduate study. If that information is not available, use 54 semester or 81 quarter hours. You are required to submit proof of your claim. Combining Education and Experience : Combinations of successfully completed post-high school education and experience may be used to meet total qualification requirements for the grade level and may be computed by first determining your total qualifying experience as a percentage of the experience required for the grade level; then determining your education as a percentage of the education required for the grade level; and then adding the two percentages.
