About Our Construction Delay Team. When it comes to understanding the details that have an impact on costly and disruptive construction delays, we have built a reputation that stands above all with decades of experience as engineers, project managers, architects, schedulers, and accountants. Our team is trusted for their sophisticated delay analysis involved in the biggest projects developed around the world, including notable buildings, infrastructure, power & utilities, and oil & gas works. Secretariat's team was honored as Who\'s Who Legal\'s Construction Expert Witness Firm of the Year for 2023.
Responsibilities
- Research and fact-finding
- Reviewing technical and non-technical documentation (construction schedules, blueprints and technical engineering drawings, reports, correspondence, market data, weather reports, financial data, etc.) to identify key details and metrics used to develop expert reports.
- Develop a keen understanding of relevant information pertaining to legal disputes regarding large-scale construction projects through research
- Detailed data analysis : review large datasets using multiple analytical methods and tools to identify trends, anomalies, and other details which may have led to cost and schedule overruns
- Quantification of delays and damages : apply analytical methods to large datasets to calculate schedule delays and cost overruns in large-scale construction projects
- Assist in drafting expert reports, converting technical data into a narrative for submission to appropriate court venues
- Economic modeling : analyze financial and market data to determine lost profits due to schedule delays and cost overruns
- Management : manage facets of small to medium sized engagements, including staff supervision, client interaction and relationship building; develop work plans and assist with marketing and / or proposal development
- Business Development : participate in new business pursuits; assist in creation of proposals and client presentations
- Case Strategy : assist executives in identifying the best approach to individual litigation / arbitration matters
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in building construction, engineering, or related field; Master's degree preferred4-8 years experience in construction project management, scheduling, or cost controlsStrong skills with MS Office Suite, MS Project, Primavera P3 / P6, SuretrakExperience with construction scheduling programs (Primavera P6 or Microsoft Project)Experience with construction claims and disputes, including mediation, arbitration, or litigation, or firsthand construction experience with changed conditions or delaysAbility to travel as needed (generally under 25% but may vary)Technical knowledge of forensic schedule analysis techniques (e.g., AACE International, Society of Construction Law) and ability to create As Planned vs As Built delay analysesExcellent written and verbal skills, including drafting reports for litigation / arbitrationStrong interpersonal skills and ability to work as a team memberFlexible, creative problem-solving skillsApplicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States without the need for visa sponsorship now or in the futureEmployment and Seniority
