Job Title : SUBSTITUTE TEACHER / TUTOR
Reports to : Supt. of Education Department : Education
Status : Exempt / Full time
Essential Functions :
Responsible for providing and following the established curriculum and behavior management program in the education of Mooseheart youth.
Specific Duties :
1. Utilizes appropriate and acceptable Instructional Techniques and curriculum.
2. Prepares long-range plans, develops well-defined objectives for students, and works consistently toward them.
3. Regularly monitors pupil progress and adjusts the pace accordingly.
4. Provides additional out-of-class time for students who are making unsatisfactory progress in order to facilitate their success.
5. Respond to disciplinary problems consistent with the Mooseheart Model of Care.
6. Sets a positive example of and encourages socially acceptable behavior through appropriate dress, speech, and manners.
7. Attends professional growth-oriented training programs to stay abreast of current educational / teaching principles, techniques, and practices
8. Maintains confidentiality of youth, staff, and community information sharing only on a
needs to know basis.
9. Any other duties and special projects assigned by the Supt. of Education, Assistant Principal or the Executive Director of Mooseheart Operations

Education, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities to Perform the Job :
1. College degree in applicable field
2. Meet the licensing and registration requirements of the State of Illinois in regards to teacher's certification - maintain certification
3. Minimum of 21 years of age
4. Excellent communication and organizational skills
5. Prefer some experience in Behavior Management
6. Some previous youth supervisory experience preferred
7. Must pass thorough background investigation - must be cleared by the Dept
of Children and Family Services via fingerprinting.
Compensation :
Annual salary is according to the teacher's salary schedule.
Full benefits package on the first of the month following the date of hire.
