Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Pediatric ICU position requiring strong PICU and cardiac experience, with WI or compact RN license and Epic charting proficiency.
Responsibilities
Work in the Pediatric ICU (PICU) of a hospital environment21-bed high-acuity unit caring for critically ill or injured childrenProvides care for patients with acute head injuries, neurological disorders, pulmonary diseases, cardiac anomalies, organ transplants, multi-system organ failure, and ECMODay / evening 12-hour shifts, Friday through Sunday, 7 : 00am-7 : 30pmEPIC EMR is used and experience is requiredFirst to float to other units or locations as needed for staffing requirementsAssignment duration is 13 weeksPatient population includes both medical and surgical pediatric casesPrimary responsibilities include comprehensive, family-centered critical care to pediatric patients with diverse and complex needsMust pass a telemetry competency exam prior to start with strict passing criteria; two attempts allowed before contract cancellationWeekly orientation provided at the hospital, following department-specific schedulingWork as part of a multidisciplinary team in a Magnet-designated, Level I Pediatric Trauma Center and Level IV NICUFirst time travelers accepted if experience requirements are metTime off requests generally limited to two weeks per contract, subject to manager approvalHoliday and weekend coverage may be required depending on unit needsScrub requirements or parking instructions will be detailed in the welcome letterRequirements
Active WI or compact RN license required and must be in hand at the time of considerationMinimum two years of acute care experience in the specialty within the last three yearsAt least three years of high-acuity hospital Pediatric ICU experience or strong Level II experience requiredBLS and PALS certifications through the American Heart Association requiredBasic arrhythmia experience required, with ability to pass telemetry test prior to startEpic EMR experience required, preferably within the past 12 monthsBachelor's degree in nursing preferredPermanent residence must be at least 50 miles from the facility; local candidates not acceptedBenefits
