Walter L Cohen Prep is searching for a full-time Special Education Paraprofessional who is enthusiastic about assisting a student with special needs to advance towards college preparation and maximize inclusion in the general education setting. This position would require you to work with students with physical, cognitive, and / or emotional exceptionalities.

Responsibilities :
- Under the supervision of an administrator and general direction of a classroom teacher, assist the teacher in the education of students including management of student behavior, recordkeeping, instructional assistance and classroom security and organization
- Provide one-on-one instruction with the student
- Evaluate student progress on work assignments and share progress with teacher(s)
- Provide ongoing communication with staff, school, and parents / guardians about the student's progress.
- Fully participate in trainings regarding state and federal laws, regulations, and programs related to Special Education.
- Participate with and attend IEP meetings
- Provide ongoing communication with staff, school, and parents / guardians about the student's progress.
- Reinforce skills taught by teacher and provide instruction in various curriculum areas related to student's need
- Assist student with class work and help him / her to stay on task
- Provide physical assistance to students, when necessary
- Provide specialized care and assistance to children in accordance with administrative approval and training and written instructions provided by parents and medical professionals
Qualifications :
