Solution Architect - Global Networking & Platforms

Eaton’s Corporate Information Technology team is hiring a Solution Architect to support the global Infrastructure team. This position will be based in one of our Eaton US locations or remotely within the US. Up to 10% travel can be expected.

The IT Infrastructure Solution Architect plays a pivotal role in designing and delivering end-to-end infrastructure solutions that align with business goals and enterprise architecture standards while advancing AI utilization. This position is part of a cross-functional Infrastructure team responsible for technologies such as Local Area Networking (LAN), Wide Area Networking (WAN), Servers, Storage, Private Cellular Networks, and Network Security.

A key aspect of this role is enabling and supporting Eaton's Operational Technology (OT) connectivity in manufacturing environments. The architect will work closely with plant operations, engineering, and Cybersecurity OT teams to ensure that infrastructure solutions support the unique requirements of industrial systems, including real-time data exchange, high availability, and secure integration between IT and OT networks.

The architect will also design and implement hybrid infrastructure strategies that optimize data processing, storage, and application performance at the site level, while ensuring seamless integration with enterprise cloud platforms.

The Solution Architect collaborates with Enterprise Architects, System Architects, Product Owners, and business stakeholders to ensure that infrastructure solutions are secure, scalable, and aligned with both current and future business needs. This role requires a blend of strategic thinking, technical expertise, and strong communication skills to guide the development and implementation of infrastructure solutions across the organization.

The expected annual salary range for this role is $141000.03 - $206800.04 a year. This position is also eligible for a variable incentive program.

What you'll do :

• Actively investigate new Infrastructure technology solutions leveraging AI.
• Partner with Enterprise Architects and business leaders to ensure infrastructure solutions support strategic goals and capability-based planning.
• Participate in technology evaluations and RFP processes to recommend suitable infrastructure tools and platforms.
• Develop and publish solution architecture documents, including integration types, data flows, and security considerations.
• Ensure solutions are fit for purpose and meet both functional and non-functional requirements.
• Submit Architecture Conformance Assessments (ACA) and present to Architecture Review Boards (ARB).
• Ensure adherence to enterprise GRC (Governance, Risk, and Compliance) standards and cybersecurity policies.
• Drive standardization and frictionless experiences across infrastructure platforms.
• Lead proof-of-concept (PoC) efforts and evaluate new infrastructure technologies.
• Define solution standards, guidelines, and reusable patterns for infrastructure deployment.
• Ensure end-to-end solution architecture is implemented as designed across infrastructure projects.
• Provide consulting support to product owners and platform teams on roadmap planning and technical feasibility.
• Conduct architecture maturity assessments and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
• Mentor junior architects and engineers, and contribute to the architecture community of practice.
• Create technical documentation, architecture diagrams, and design storyboards.
• Communicate solution designs and decisions clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
