About the Role
Project Estimator position serves as the organizations management representative on projects from conception until construction award. This includes the establishment and control of project scopes and budgets - Including phases such as concept development, schematic phases, design through construction documents and preconstruction / design-assist schematic design. In parallel the Preconstruction Manager serves as our corporate liaison between our clients (project owners) and provides oversight and direction to our subcontractors, design firms, manufacturing, and field labor divisions. This position supports client relationships, and alongside sales and the balance of operations, works to provide our clients with projects that are completed within budget, on schedule, and in accordance with our safety and quality standards.
Experience Level and Background : 3 to 8 years minimum in construction and project development. Engineering or architectural degree or formal training with equivalent experience.
Responsibilities
- The department focuses on early phase opportunity / project planning / development, cost development, schedule development, cost history tracking, risk management, revenue building, and development and execution strategy of early-phase project opportunities, dispute / change order resolution, tracking of early-stage project change and project success.
- The department fosters strategic execution and cost alignment with field operations, manufacturing, design, project management, and project development to ensure the competitiveness and success of a projects scope, schedule, and budget.
- The department is responsible for the accuracy of corporate and sub-division project budgets including manufacturing, and field labor.
- The department collaborates on costs and remains responsible for the pricing and gross profit margin of projects.
- The department ensures a sound transition of a projects scope, execution strategy, and budget from sales to operations.
General Roles Responsibilities
Provides strategic management, and input on project approach and execution strategy including project design concepts, budgets, schedule, submittals, billings, etc.Conceptualizes, plans, and communicates workflow activities to ensure project objectives are achieved.Fosters client relationships to ensure complete satisfaction with current opportunity and positions company for future repeat opportunities with client.Specific Roles Responsibilities
Maintains direct responsibility for projects pre-construction estimating budget, scope, and schedule.Leverages understanding of building processes and systems to establish project milestones, project guidelines, and deadlines.Collaborates with design, manufacturing, field labor and management divisions, external vendors, and subcontractors.Ensures all materials, trades and labor scopes are defined, submitted, and procured as required to execute the project.Develops and maintains cost control / scope control procedures, billing / collection procedures, change management control and procedures, status reports (weekly, monthly, etc.).Qualifications

Day-to-day Overview
Lead cost estimating during the preconstruction phase.Oversee project scheduling in preconstruction.Manage risk assessment and mitigation in preconstruction.Serve as the primary point of communication for clients and project owners.Manage vendor and subcontractor relationships, including prequalification and negotiations.Support issue identification and contributes to resolution and compromise.Ensure smooth transition from sales opportunity to preconstruction and into project execution.Develop and tracks project budgets, profit metrics, and other performance indicators.Prepare and assists with pre-sale and post-award presentations.Support select opportunities throughout the sales process.Uphold company standards and ethics.Pay range and compensation package
