About The Position

Job Title : Respiratory Therapist

Profession : Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics

Specialty : RRT

Duration : 13 weeks

Shift : Night

Hours per Shift : 12 hours

Experience : 2 years of experience as an RRT in Adult Critical Care; 1 prior travel assignment completed

License : State licensure required

Certifications : BLS, CRT

Must-Have : Emergency Department experience preferred; ACLS preferred

Description :

Traveler will be responsible for airway management devices and suctioning.

Tasks include endotracheal tube placement and suctioning, extubation, nasal airway placement, and oral airway placement.

Performs pulmonary hygiene and sputum specimen collection.

Handles tracheostomy care and suctioning.

Interprets arterial blood gases.

Must be comfortable drawing and analyzing ABGs.

Familiarity with ventilators, including Draeger V500 and Servo U, is required.

Skills required for success include aerosol setup for masks and trachs.

Experience with medications such as albuterol, atrovent, and inhaled steroids is important.

Traveler is expected to assist in high-risk deliveries and with umbilical blood gases.

Additional skills preferred include bronchoscopy and knowledge of nitric oxide therapy.

The facility is a short-term acute care teaching hospital with a diverse patient population.

Flexibility to float to various adult areas is required.

Weekend and holiday coverage is expected, including every other weekend.

Employee health requirements include having the flu vaccine.
