Avondale House is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit agency that provides educational services to individuals with autism, a day program for adults, where participants receive training in daily living skills and pre-vocational activities and three residential homes for adults unable to live in their own home.
This position will support the Avondale House Day Program under the direction of the CEO. Avondale House has been serving individuals with autism since 1976. To learn more please visit our website at : www.avondalehouse.org.

Job Duties :
- Develops and manages Day Hab program, offering choice and creative activities in a positive environment.
- Supervises Direct Support Professionals to include assistance with : hiring, training, coaching, evaluating and retaining staff.
- Assists with the development, implementation, and monitoring of each participant’s Individual Program Plan (IPP).
- Oversees admission of new Day Hab participants.
- Creates activities for participants and ensures implementation.
- Serves as back up to Direct Support Professional staff as needed.
- Ensures each individual participates in community-based instruction (CBI) and other recreational outings.
- Shows compassion, builds rapport and encourages participants in order for them to develop into their full potential.
- Ensures participants are on task and have necessary materials to complete training goals.
- Coordinates with Residential and other staff throughout Avondale House to coordinate services, goal planning and to meet the overall needs of each participant in the Day Program.
- Monitors required documentation completed by staff to ensure compliance and prepares for invoicing.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements :
Ability to demonstrate Avondale House Core Values : Commitment, Achievement, Respect, Integrity, Nurturing, Growth.Bachelor’s degree preferred, High School Diploma or GED required.3-5 Years of experience in a similar role required.Experience working with autistic individuals required.Experience working with intellectually disabled individuals required.Patient, authoritative personality.Current CPR Certification.Valid Driver’s License and insurability required.Physical / Other Requirements :
Ability to implement CPI, Non-Violent Crisis Intervention.Lifting up to 50 lbs.Ability to stand on your feet for 2-3 hours at a time.Valid Texas Driver’s License.Background Check Required
