Job Description\n

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a night-shift Med Surg position requiring an IN or compact RN license and at least two years of recent medical-surgical experience.

\n \n Responsibilities\n

  • Work in an adult Med Surg unit with occasional coverage in a PEDs unit
  • Assignment is for 13 weeks on 12-hour night shifts
  • Covers both the Adult medical unit (3N) and Adult surgical unit (2N)
  • 2N has 23 surgical beds; 3N has 19 adult beds and 5 pediatric beds
  • Average nurse-to-patient ratio is 1 : 5 with support staff of LPN and CNAs
  • Utilizes equipment including telemetry, Phillips vital signs monitors, vein viewers, bladder scanners, and Meditech for charting
  • Required to work 2 of these 3 holidays : Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, and New Year's Eve
  • Responsibilities include medication administration, vital sign monitoring, head-to-toe assessments, IVs, blood administration, and isolation precautions
  • Support from LPNs and CNAs for vital signs, point-of-care testing, daily living assistance, and patient mobility
  • Orientation provided on the unit with preceptor support and hands-on training
  • Dress code requires any color scrubs except blue jean material, closed-toe shoes, and neat appearance
  • Must have hair pulled back and only earrings allowed for piercings
  • No facility call-off policy is in place

  • Active IN or compact RN license
  • Minimum 2 years recent experience in medical-surgical nursing
  • Current BLS certification required
  • ACLS certification preferred but not mandatory
