Manual Machinist

  • Overview

SKILLS / EXPERIENCE :

  • 5+ years of related experience involving set-up / operation of precision (high tolerance), machine shop equipment (Aerospace mfg. environment preferred)
  • High School / (GED) Diploma or Vocational / Technical school equivalent

    Self-motivated individual who possesses the ability to analyze, organize, plan, multi-task and achieve results through effective interaction with others

    Possess math skills required to effectively and efficiently read, interpret documents (i.e., blueprints / technical drawings, operation / tool / set-up sheets, procedures, ECN’s, routers, etc.). Ability to interpret various types of graphs and data used in problem solving, SPC, monitoring of performance metrics, etc.

    Demonstrate effective verbal / written communication skills required for interacting with all levels of personnel within the organization

    Ability to set-up and operate machine shop equipment in a effective, efficient, safe and consistent manner

    Knowledgeable in the areas of Lean Manufacturing concepts, employee training, GT&D practices, interpretation of machine shop documentation (blueprints, ECN’s, operation / tooling sheets, routers, etc.), inspection methods, effective utilization of measuring equipment / instruments, root cause investigations, troubleshooting, and performance metrics

    Consistently demonstrate commitment to company values, strategic plan and vision

    Must demonstrate creative thinking as it relates to machine shop, inspection and assembly and test fixture manufacture and design input.

    Must be a US Citizen

  • Additional Duties / Responsibilities
  • Bring initiatives and activities to closure in a timely manner through effective interaction with individuals, both internal and external to the Marotta organization (as required).
  • Abide by all safety, quality, housekeeping and company policies / procedures to ensure compliance to all regulatory and internal system requirements.

    Contribute to a positive and cooperative work environment through effective communication at all levels internal and external to the organization

    Actively participate in team meetings, improvement initiatives / programs, etc. and support actions to drive company initiatives / goals

    Assist in the training of personnel to perform required technical tasks (as directed)

    Consistently demonstrate commitment to company values

    Keep management informed of area activities and of any significant problems.

    Assume responsibility for related duties as required or assigned.

    Ensure that work area is clean, secure, and well maintained.

    Complete special projects and miscellaneous assignments as required.

  • Work Environment
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to conditions typical of a manufacturing / machine shop environment, including, but not limited to : fluids, fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, noise and vibration
  • This job interacts both in a professional office environment and a manufacturing / machine shop environment. This role uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines, as well as environments inclusive of the appropriate eye, hearing and foot protection (as required).
  • Temperature of work environment may be affected by outside / external temperatures, machining processes, etc.
  • This is a full-time position;
  • Overtime and weekend work may be required, as job duties demand.
  • No travel is expected for this position
  • Physical Requirements
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear.
  • The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms, and to use hands to finger, handle or feel
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • The employee is regularly required to stand at length (7-8 hours, daily), sit, walk, stoop, bend, turn, balance, and / or crouch, and move about the facility.
  • The employee may be required to lift and / or move items weighing up to 40 pounds, and occasionally up to 70 lbs.
