Status : Exempt
Minimum Qualifications :
- Licensed Master of Social Work (MSW) under OMH state regulation, able to provide supervision, School Social Worker Certified.
- Trained in Trauma-Informed Care (TIC), evidence-based practices, and clinical theories applied to sessions and classrooms
- Well-versed in handling crisis response and suicidal ideations

This includes counseling, crisis intervention, advocacy, and connecting families with community resources. The School Social Worker collaborates with teachers, administrators, parents, and external agencies to create a supportive and inclusive learning environment.

Primary Functions :
Student SupportBehavioral InterventionsCrisis InterventionIEP and 504 DocumentationCommunity Resource ConnectionData TrackingClinical AssessmentsFunctional Behavioral AssessmentsReportingSupervisory Functions :
Supervise MSW students (1 hour per week per student : individual and one hour of group supervision)MSW interns report two days per weekDuties and Responsibilities :
Student Support :
Conduct individual and group counseling sessions with 30-40 students per social workerDevelop and implement intervention strategies to improve students' social and academic functioningAssist students in developing coping strategies and problem-solving skillsBehavioral Interventions :
Implement and track behavioral interventions for studentsDocument and update IEP and 504 plans for mandated sessionsCrisis Intervention :
Respond to crises involving students, such as incidents of violence, abuse, or mental health emergenciesHandle crisis response and suicidal ideations, including assessment, documentation, and reportingConduct CPS reporting and assist staff in the reporting processIEP and 504 Documentation :
Ensure accurate and timely documentation for IEP / 504 studentsParticipate in IEP and 504 meetings and provide necessary input for student plansCommunity Resource Connection :
Bridge the gap between community resources and family needsConnect families with community resources and services, including mental health care, housing assistance, and financial supportData Tracking :
Track data related to clinical treatment plans, interventions, and outcomesMaintain accurate records of student progress and services providedAssessments :
Perform Functional Behavioral Assessments (FBAs) to identify student needsReporting :
Prepare and submit reports for DASA, McKinney-Vento, and other required documentationParticipate in grand rounds and monthly team meetings to discuss student progress and coordinate servicesSupervision :
Provide individual and group supervision for MSW students and internsParent Meetings :
Facilitate and participate in parent meetings to discuss student progress and needsCollaborate with parents to develop and implement support plans for their childrenKey Competencies :
