About the Role
The Tier 3 Managed Network Administrator is a senior member of the Network Operations Center (NOC) team and serves as the ultimate escalation point for complex technical issues. This role ensures the responsiveness, reliability, and technical excellence of our customer support operation.
As a Tier 3 Administrator, you’ll work hands-on with Scale Computing’s networking technologies, Linux environments, and internal tools to troubleshoot advanced network challenges. You’ll also contribute to continuous improvement by documenting best practices, mentoring lower-tier technicians, and collaborating across departments to resolve multi-customer or system-wide issues.
This role is ideal for a highly technical problem-solver with deep networking knowledge, a proactive mindset, and a passion for driving operational excellence.
What You’ll Do
As an integral part of the Network Operations Center team, the Tier 3 Managed Network Administrator will :
- Serve as the final escalation point for Tier 1 and Tier 2 technicians, resolving complex customer network issues.
- Troubleshoot and manage :
Device registration and policy creation
Switch configuration and VPN supportGeneral network configuration and administration (e.g., iptables)Device firmware managementScale Computing Apps and WorkloadsThird-party firewalls and loyalty integrationsDiagnose and resolve technical issues affecting multiple customers simultaneously (e.g., application or workload issues).Write, update, and quality-check knowledge base articles for use by other NOC team members.Schedule and manage maintenance updates for apps, firmware, and systems impacting the customer base as a whole.Collaborate cross-functionally with development, engineering, and operations teams to ensure escalations are fully addressed.Participate in the on-call rotation to provide after-hours escalation support as needed.Requirements : What You’ll Bring
Required Qualifications
3+ years of experience in technical support and Linux networking rolesAdvanced troubleshooting skills in network administration and securityDemonstrated effectiveness in employee workflow managementProven ability to create and maintain process and workflow documentationProficiency with Linux and BashWorking knowledge of :VLANs and network segmentation
Switch configuration and firewalls (iptables)IPSec VPNs (Libreswan)Must be able to work on-site at least 3 days per week.Overtime and flexible hours may be required to respond to after-hours escalations or customer demands.Preferred Education and Experience
Associate degree in Computer Science or a related technical fieldTechnical training certifications such as Network+, Security+, CCNA, or equivalentExperience working in a Managed Service Provider (MSP) or NOC environmentPhysical Demands
This is a largely sedentary role that requires extended periods of computer and phone work. Occasional lifting of equipment and packages may be required.
