JOB SUMMARY :
Manages and organizes the daily operations of the staff and department services. Oversees all sterilization and decontamination services for the department, including receiving, issuing instrumentation and soft goods. Provides for and encourages staff to participate in education to stimulate interest and promote growth and development. Hires, supervises and trains staff. Demonstrates proper knowledge of Sterile Processing procedures. Follows AAMI, TJC, OSHA and CDC guidelines and partners with Infection Prevention (value stream partner) to ensure patient and colleague safety through diligent tracking and continuous improvement efforts.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
Education
High School Diploma or equivalent and SPS Certification required.
Experience
5+ years of experience in SPS and 2+ years of experience in a management role.
Licensure, Certification, Registration
Current Sterile Processing Management Certification from the Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution Inc. (CBSPD) or International Association of Healthcare Central Service Material Management (IAHCSMM) Required
Language Skills
Must be able to read, write and speak English
Knowledge, Skills and Ability Requirements
Working knowledge of all functions of Sterile Processing Services
Must create a positive environment by acting as a positive role model to staff and adhering to Leadership behaviors at all times.
Must have ability to problem solve, deal with conflict and find resolutions in a fast paced environment.
