Senior Accountant

Our client, a well-established and growing construction organization, is seeking a senior accountant to support the day-to-day accounting operations and month-end close process. This role will play a key part in maintaining the integrity of the general ledger, preparing financial reconciliations, and supporting accurate and timely financial reporting. The ideal candidate brings strong technical accounting skills, experience in a large corporate environment, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced setting.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and post month-end close journal entries, accruals, and adjustments
• Perform balance sheet and income statement reconciliations, ensuring accuracy and completeness
• Maintain and manage the general ledger, including account analysis and variance explanations
• Support monthly, quarterly, and year-end close activities in accordance with internal deadlines
• Assist with financial reporting and ad hoc accounting analysis as needed
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve discrepancies and improve accounting processes
• Utilize advanced Excel skills to analyze data, build schedules, and support reporting needs
• Contribute to process improvements and documentation of accounting procedures

This role is located in Denver, Colorado and is 100% on site. To be considered must be local in Colorado.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in accounting is required.
• 8+ years of progressive accounting experience
• Strong experience with month-end close, journal entries, and account reconciliations
• Background supporting mid-to-large size organizations
• Solid general ledger accounting knowledge
• Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, formulas, large data sets)

Nice to Have

• Construction industry experience, including exposure to job costing, WIP schedules, or project-based accounting
