An outside machinist performs major and specialized mechanical overhaul and repair work on marine equipment and systems using schematic charts and technical manuals. The tasks performed by the outside machinist will be the following :
- Tests marine engines and equipment to determine need for repairs or adjustments.
- Repairs and maintains hydraulic equipment and valves, operates hand and power tools associated with marine engine and equipment repair.
Performs other related tasks as assigned, some of which may become essential to the position. Actively participates in continuous improvement initiatives to improve safety, improve quality, reduce cycle time, and reduce costs.
Required Education and Experience :
High school education / equivalent preferred.Knowledge of shipbuilding processes and procedures preferred.Must have at least 4 years as an Outside MachinistAbility to understand verbal and written instructions and required to communicate effectively in English.Assessment
Must be able to pass a hands-on assessment and written test.
