Overview
Insight Global's energy management client is looking for a Mechanical Engineer II to join their team in Houston, TX.
The Mechanical Engineer II works cross-functionally with a team to develop and execute tests for existing product designs and provide testing services to address customer needs. This position is fully immersed in our process which involves the development of testing procedures for rigorous testing and analysis activities that enhance design and understanding for their customers.
Responsibilities
- Expert design experience
- Comfortable with rinsing / repeating the same design / concept within CAD Solidworks
- Able to help with new designs
- 20% lab
- Provides guidance in design and assembly of KULR's innovative testbeds and testing apparatuses.
- Conducts destructive and performance-based test programs for both internal and customer-provided materials, components, and assembled systems.
- Designs, develops, prototypes, and tests all aspects of mechanical components, equipment, and machinery.
- Develops specifications for new parts or prototypes. Identifies appropriate materials and processes to ensure the quality, performance, and manufacturability of products.
- Uses CAD software and other design and modeling tools to develop and improve parts and products.
- Conducts analysis and tests to determine weaknesses and failures in prototypes or products.
- Participates in cross-training as mutually agreed upon by the engineer and their supervisor to further support business needs.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related field, required or equivalent combination of education and experience.5+ years of relative experience5+ years of CAD experienceUp to 10% travel to support testing, conferences, and customer engagement activities.Familiarity with engineering software, such as CAD, FEA, or CFD tools.Competence in Design Engineering, Review and Optimization to support design processes and lead design activities.Competence in Mechanical Engineering, Applied Mechanics and Prototyping for rapid design and effective implementation of iterative design practices.Intermediate use of computers and Microsoft Office Suite Applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.Plusses

Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.
