Job Summary

The Resource Family Recruiter / Trainer / Social Worker is responsible for recruiting families to provide short and / or long-term foster care in their homes, and for identifying needs, developing and implementing training programs for prospective resource families.

Essential Functions

• Speaking to community groups, organizations, churches to generate interest and promote foster care, ISFC, RHAS / RSS and Adoptions
• Networking with public / private agencies
• Conduct and assess preliminary home study for prospective Resource families
• Conduct periodic trainings and ongoing trainings for Resource Families, RHAS families and RSS families based on needs and / or to remain in compliance with ongoing requirements
• Schedule and conduct trainings for prospective resource parents and RHAS families.
• Develops and prepares training materials and handouts.
• Gather and prepare documents necessary for the certification process; work with families to ensure homes and / or documents are in place for approval and in compliance with Title XXII Regulations, program and Agency policies
• Participates in Agency wide meetings as appropriate to ensure all those concerned are kept informed as to recruiting and training activities
• Documentation of meetings, contacts and case progress by completing paperwork, weekly progress report and writing plans of service.
• Sensitive and responsive to the cultural differences among the agency's client population
• Travel to field locations, including DCFS / DFCS offices and partner agencies, to present and share current foster home vacancies and agency capacity.
• Field intake calls and coordinate possible placement with assistance of the director of FFA / ISFC or social worker
• Actively participate in a quality improvement project

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of the Resource Family Recruiter / Trainer, the employee is frequently required to sit and use their fingers to manipulate a keyboard or writing instrument. The employee is occasionally required to walk, stand, bend and lift objects heavier than ten pounds. The employee is rarely required to drive or run.
