American Traveler is seeking an Occupational Therapist with at least 2 years of experience and Alaska OT licensure eligibility for a diverse inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation role in a rural Alaska setting.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
Work in a rural hospital environment providing both inpatient and outpatient occupational therapy servicesPosition may include coverage at a long-term care facility and involve home visits and village travelDay shift schedule for a 13-week contractCaseload includes all age groups and a wide variety of diagnoses within the Alaska OT scope of practiceUse equipment such as hi-lo tables, therapeutic exercise equipment, ultrasound, electric stimulation modalities, and ADL training spacesDocumentation performed on standard OT department systems and hospital equipmentResponsibilities include developing and modifying individualized patient care plans using evidence-based practice across diverse age groupsRole requires strong didactic skills to comply with Alaska’s Direct Access privilege for OTCollaboration with medical providers is frequent due to rural and remote settingsMandatory participation in new employee orientation, conducted on Tuesdays and WednesdaysAll hospital-provided housing is shared, single-gender, and pet-free with private bedrooms and shared common areasNo private housing is available; travelers must coordinate directly with the facility for accommodationsRoundtrip economy airfare is reimbursed after arrival and proof of flight purchaseFlight itinerary information must be submitted at least one week in advance of the start dateImmunizations required include Hepatitis A / B, Varicella, MMR, T-Dap, and Polio, or documented history or titersCandidate must pass a math test for adult and pediatric medication calculations upon arrivalNo pets are allowed in housing and no exceptions are made for returning travelers regarding airport transportationRole supports the facility’s mission of excellence and respects cultural diversity\n \n Requirements\n
Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited programMinimum 2 years of occupational therapy experience requiredAlaska OT license in good standing required, or eligible and awaiting Alaska licensure; license required if applicableCurrent NBCOT certification requiredCurrent BLS certification required for the entire duration of the assignmentAbility to travel to remote villages and provide in-home carePhysical, background check, immunization records, and other onboarding documents are required prior to travel\n Benefits\n
