Correctional Officers can join special teams such as Rapid Response Teams, Crisis Response Team, Interdiction Units, K-9 Units, and many other special team opportunities.

Correctional Officer Sergeantsare responsible for the supervision, protection, care, custody, control, and physical restraint, when necessary, of inmates at a correctional institution or facility and functioning as lead officer over two or more Correctional Officers assigned to inmate dormitories, confinement areas, work areas or work squads where assignment of a supervisor is not warranted; supervising and participating in the activities of the control room or the main gate of an institution; directing the activities of an entire facility on a shift. The incumbent in this position is considered to have regulatory responsibilities and is subject to the provisions of Chapter 60L-36, Florida Administrative Code.

COMPENSATION :

Minimum Annual Salary of $50,336.00

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :

MUST

have active reserve military experience with at least one year of experience working full-time as a correctional officer ata Department of Corrections facility.
