As part of the OpenTelemetry team, you'll collaborate with the open source community to advance the observability standard. Your role will involve building and enhancing open source SDKs and tools across various programming languages, focusing on tracing and instrumentation. You will empower our customers to access critical data easily and contribute to a flourishing open source community.
Your Responsibilities :
- Develop and enhance open-source libraries and integrations with OpenTelemetry. Work on both new and existing tools for generating telemetry data, ensuring the success of the broader observability ecosystem.
- Enhance the developer experience by innovating and improving tooling across the ecosystem, crafting code and documentation that simplifies the process for fellow engineers.
- Collaborate with the open-source community and Honeycomb's R&D team, including product, engineering, and design, to create exceptional user experiences.
- Independently scope and deliver projects, breaking down complex problems, managing trade-offs, and ensuring measurable impacts from design to production support.
- Increase the adoption of OpenTelemetry by working with various teams to guide them in identifying benefits and enhancing community engagement through documentation.
Your Qualifications :
A genuine interest in observability and the tools that provide insights into production code.Strong communication skills for both written and verbal interactions, recognizing the importance of collaboration and feedback.Experience as a polyglot programmer, familiar with multiple popular programming languages in a multi-language environment.A preference for being a generalist, ready to assist with various engineering tasks and projects as part of our small team.At least 4 years of professional experience as a software engineer or in a related capacity.A collaborative mindset, understanding that our combined efforts lead to shared goals, efficiency in delivery, and a thriving workplace.Compensation : Base salary based on experience ranges from 113,500 to 133,500 GBP.
