We are looking for an experienced Finance Director to provide strategic financial leadership for our organization in Muskegon Heights, Michigan. This long-term contract position offers the opportunity to oversee financial operations, ensure compliance with governmental standards, and drive effective budget management. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in financial reporting, audits, and grant compliance while contributing to the organization's overall success.
Responsibilities :
- Develop and execute comprehensive financial strategies and policies aligned with organizational objectives.
- Provide expert financial guidance to leadership teams, including analysis of results, forecasts, and strategic planning.
- Oversee cash flow management, investments, and debt to ensure financial stability.
- Act as the primary contact for finance and audit committees, fostering collaboration and transparency.
- Ensure compliance with federal award requirements, cost principles, and audit standards, including Uniform Guidance (2 CFR 200).
- Monitor subrecipient activities, assess risks, and review invoices for grant compliance.
- Prepare and submit all financial and performance reports within required deadlines.
- Coordinate annual financial audits and manage Single Audits for federal awards, liaising with external auditors.
- Maintain strong internal controls to meet audit standards and safeguard assets.
- Lead the annual budgeting process, working with department heads to create accurate and effective budgets.
- Proven experience in financial leadership roles, including budgeting, reporting, and audits.
- Must have knowledge of governmental accounting standards (GASB) and compliance requirements.
- Expertise in managing federal awards and ensuring adherence to Uniform Guidance (2 CFR 200).
- Skilled in preparing financial statements and performance reports.
- Familiarity with government auditing standards and processes.
- Proficiency in cash flow forecasting and financial planning.
- Hands-on experience with accounting systems and financial software.
- Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field; advanced degree or CPA preferred.
