Job Summary

Delivers advanced limited occupational therapy services under the periodic supervision of an Occupational Therapist. Carries out treatment plans according to the principles and practices of occupational therapy. May lead or engage in professional development and performance improvement activities. Responsible for identifying, resolving, and / or escalating clinical and operational issues and assists in selection and maintenance of equipment.

Primary Responsibilities

The following statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by people assigned to this classification. They are not to be construed as an exhaustive list of all job responsibilities performed.

• Performs advanced limited occupational therapy services to patients in accordance with generally accepted standards, Maryland Department of Health Board of Occupational Therapy Practice, code of ethics, and departmental and / or organizational policies and procedures.
• Carries out treatment plan programs for clients / patients to promote health, well-being, and the patient’s ability to participate in the important activities in their life.
• Records patient data for re-evaluations and care provided in the medical record in accordance with departmental documentation standards.
• Informs patients, families, and interdisciplinary team members of progress and plan for treatment and refers for further evaluation.
• Provides therapy education and counseling to individuals.
• Engages in professional development and advancement activities such as learning opportunities or areas of improvement. Provides mentorship and training to clinical team members and / or students based on departmental needs.
• Participates, engages in, and / or may lead performance improvement activities, and other initiatives.
• Identifies, resolves, and / or escalates clinical and operational issues to department leadership for resolution to assure high quality care and efficient departmental operations.
• Assists in the selection, care, and maintenance of department diagnostic and treatment equipment, materials, and supplies and participates in decisions regarding the purchase of equipment.
• Facilitates interdisciplinary, safe, patient-centered care and delivers excellent customer service.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education & Experience - Required

Licensed Occupational Therapy Assistant in the state of Maryland

Compensation

Pay Range : $28.82 - $40.35
