Job descriptionPrevention and detection of intrusion, entry, larceny, vandalism, abuse, fire, or trespass on private property. Prevention, observation, or detection of any unauthorized activity on private property. Protection of persons lawfully authorized to be on BGEA property. Screens pedestrian and vehicular traffic to confirm authorized entry Control, regulate, or direct the flow or movement of the public, whether by vehicle or otherwise, only to the extent and for the time directly and specifically required to assure the protection of persons and property. Assists with medical emergencies involving sick or injured persons Operates security systems and equipment including but not limited to card access, fire and burglar alarms, CCTV, and BGEA vehicles Exercises appropriate judgment and discretion when handling disruptive individuals and situations in a courteous, professional manner Reports damage to ministry or employee property, and conducts investigations regarding same as may be appropriate Documents incoming emergency calls during non-business hours and distributes information accordingly In case of emergency, follows call-in procedures for BGEA management and staff Immediately consults with management involving emergency incidents occurring on the property or which may have an effect on BGEA Becomes familiar with all BGEA facilities, policies, procedures, and regulations that affect safety and security of BGEA building occupants Enforce rules on the property that are established by the management of BGEA. Maintains confidentiality of sensitive information regarding organizational and operational plans, activities, and general security matters Notify appropriate contact person for problems and emergencies, and file reports as required. Refers all requests from news media to BGEA Media Relations Appropriately helps guests with information and assistance Reports maintenance problems or hazardous conditions such as water leaks, fire, and safety hazards Performs all additional duties as directed by superiors (e.g., cleaning work areas and removal of trash during holiday weekends; job related training Assists other departments as directed by superiors Maintains a well-groomed, neat appearance, in compliance with established BGEA policy and as further directed by department supervisors Performs other duties as assigned Ensure the security console is manned at all times. Detect in-coming fire and burglar alarms. Notify the Facilities Department any alarms regarding the Sever Rooms and UPS Alarms. Notify Security Manager or Security Director of unusual events. Answer telephones in security office. Monitor activity on the surveillance monitors. Screen persons seeking access to the property to ensure only authorized persons are allowed access. Minimum of associate-level degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school in a job-related field, or five (5) years’ experience and / or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; write routine reports and correspondence; speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization as required Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form Possess a valid driver’s license and good driving record As a condition of employment, and as directed by supervisors, must successfully complete BGEA-specified security and safety training as directed, including CPR / AED certification, NC Private Protection Services armed guard training and registration within 6 months after being hired Ability to clearly communicate verbally, on the telephone and portable radio, with staff of all levels of the association Capacity to prioritize work and manage multiple projects in a high-paced environment Ability to work independently and as part of a team while demonstrating flexibility when priorities change Ability to work under stress during emergencies Regularly required to sit and stand for extended periods of time Occasionally lift and / or move up to 50 pounds Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus Ability to problem solve and find necessary solutions when problems arise Work is typically performed in a conventional office environment Occasional outdoor exposure to inclement weather Availability to work holidays, nights, and weekends, as directed We believe the Bible to be the inspired, the only infallible, authoritative Word of God revealing the love of God to the world. Furthermore, we believe that God will reward the righteous with eternal life in heaven, and that He will banish the unrighteous to everlasting punishment in hell. We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit, whose indwelling enables the Christian to live a godly life. (John 3 : 5-8; Acts 1 : 8 and 4 : 31; Romans 8 : 9; 1 Corinthians 2 : 14; Galatians 5 : 16-18; Ephesians 6 : 12; Colossians 2 : 6-10). We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost; the saved unto the resurrection of eternal life and the lost unto the resurrection of damnation and eternal punishment. (1 Corinthians 15 : 51-57; Revelation 20 : 11-15). We believe in the spiritual unity of believers in the Lord Jesus Christ and that all true believers are members of His body, the church. (1 Corinthians 12 : 12, 27; Ephesians 1 : 22-23). We believe that the ministry of evangelism (sharing and proclaiming the message of salvation only possible by grace through faith in Jesus Christ) and discipleship (helping followers of Christ grow up into maturity in Christ) is a responsibility of all followers of Jesus Christ. We believe God’s plan for human sexuality is to be expressed only within the context of marriage, that God created man and woman as unique biological persons made for each other. God instituted monogamous marriage between male and female as the foundation of the family and the basic structure of human society. For this reason, we believe that marriage is exclusively the union of one genetic male and one genetic female. (Genesis 2 : 24; Matthew 19 : 5-6; Mark 10 : 6-9; Romans 1 : 26-27; 1 Corinthians 6 : 9). We believe that we must dedicate ourselves to prayer, to the service of our Lord, to His authority over our lives, and to the ministry of evangelism. We believe that human life is sacred from conception to its natural end; and that we must have concern for the physical and spiritual needs of our fellowmen. (Psalm 139 : 13; Isaiah 49 : 1; Jeremiah 1 : 5; Matthew 22 : 37-39; Romans 12 : 20-21; Galatians 6 : 10). We believe God wonderfully and immutably creates each person a biological male or female. These two distinct, but complementary sexes together reflect the image and likeness of God. Rejection of one’s biological sex is a rejection of God’s merciful design and creative order. Department Detail – The Billy Graham Evangelistic Association Security Department is responsible for providing a safe and secure environment for employees and visitors on the premises of BGEA, and to protect all association property from theft and damage. To this end the department seeks first to prevent and then to mitigate the effects of man-made or natural disasters, and medical emergencies, as well as to have a physical presence onsite and to monitor the property at all times.
Job Summary – This position performs security duties that protect persons and property at the BGEA-Charlotte facilities.
