Position Overview :
Under the general supervision, the Perinatal Hepatitis B Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) supports the Perinatal Hepatitis B Prevention Program by ensuring proper case identification, management, and surveillance of perinatal hepatitis B cases in Harris County. This position works with healthcare providers, birthing hospitals, and public health professionals to ensure adherence to state-mandated prevention protocols, facilitate vaccination series completion, and promote education and compliance efforts to reduce the transmission of hepatitis B in newborns.
Duties & Responsibilities :
- Case Identification and Monitoring : Monitor and manage perinatal hepatitis B cases, ensuring timely follow-up, vaccination, and serological testing.
- Vaccination Compliance and Patient Follow-up : Track vaccination compliance for hepatitis B-exposed infants and provide reminders to families and providers.
- Case Management : Provide case management and follow-up to reduce missed immunizations and improve health outcomes.
- Training and Outreach : Educate and train healthcare providers on hepatitis B prevention, reporting requirements, and best practices.
- Data Management : Maintain accurate case records and program data using public health databases and tools.
- Program Evaluation : Analyze and report program data to assess vaccination rates and program effectiveness.
- Healthcare Collaboration and Stakeholder Coordination : Collaborate with healthcare providers and hospitals to implement and support prevention strategies.
- Emergency Response : Assist with special tasks related to public health emergency events, including vaccine distribution efforts and emergency response coordination.

Requirements
Education :
Associate's degree or diploma in NursingExperience :
At least two (2) years of experience in nursing, with a focus on public health, immunization, or infectious disease managementLicensure / Certifications :
Current license with no restrictions as a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) in the State of Texas by the Texas Board of Vocational Nurse ExaminersValid Texas driver's licenseKnowledge, Skills and Abilities :
