Registered Nurse (RN) Extended Recovery - Nights (Part-Time 24hrs)

IF this sounds like the type of team and environment you want to be a part of apply today!\n\nPosition Summary : The Extended Recovery RN, s responsible for providing high-quality patient-centered care to post-operative orthopedic patients requiring extended recovery or overnight care. This role involves monitoring patient conditions, managing pain, preventing complications, encouraging early mobility, preparing patients for their discharge home, and ensuring a safe recovery process. The Extended Recovery nurse will work closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, hospitalists, nurse navigators, and other healthcare professionals to optimize patient outcomes and maintain safety standards.\n\nPosition details\n\nStatus\n\nPart-Time\n\nShift\n\nNights\n\nFTE / Hours\n\n0.6 / 24\n\nSchedule\n\nTwo (2) 12-Hour Shifts 6 : 45pm - 7 : 15am + weekend and holiday rotations\n\nPosition Requirements\n\nEducation : Graduate of an accredited school / college of nursing required. Bachelor's degree preferred.\n\nLicensure : Registered Nursing licensed in the State of Nebraska or eligible compact state required.\n\nCertification : Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification (ACLS) to be acquired within 90 days of hire or transfer date required.\n\nExperience : 1+ Years of RN (Registered Nurse) Experience preferred.\n\nRequired Knowledge / Skills / Abilities\n

• Strong knowledge of post-operative orthopedic care, including pain management and mobility assistance\n
• Proficiency in IV therapy, wound care, patient assessment, and vital sign monitoring\n
• Ability to recognize and respond to complications including respiratory distress and infection\n
• Excellent communication and patient education skills\n
• Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment\n
• Proficiency in electronic medical records (EMR) and documentation of patient assessments and interventionsStrong critical thinking and problem-solving skills\n\nEssential Job Functions\n\nPatient Care and Monitoring\n
• Conduct comprehensive nursing assessments post-surgery\n
• Monitor vital signs, pain levels, and overall patient condition\n
• Administer medications including pain management protocols\n
• Assist patients with mobility ensuring safety and adherence to post op restrictions\n\nClinical Support and Emergency Response\n
• Identify signs of post operative complications and intervene appropriately\n
• Provide wound care, monitor for infections, and manage post anesthesia side effects\n
• Initiates action to correct, prevent, and / or minimize risk(s) to the patient, family or hospital employees (i.e., falls, needle sticks, patient concerns).\n\nCommunication and Documentation\n
• Maintain accurate and timely medical records\n
• Communicate effectively with patients and families, addressing concerns and providing education about recovery expectations.\n\nOperational Responsibilities\n

• Comply with safety activities, policies and procedures and regulatory requirements such as OSHA and The Joint Commission\n

• Follow established guidelines as stated in hospital and departmental policies and procedures\n
• Assist in onboarding and training new nursing staffEmployee is responsible for all other duties as assigned for which competency has been demonstrated.\n\nPhysical requirements : This position is classified as Medium Work in the Dictionary of Occupational Titles, requiring the exertion of 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and / or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and / or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.
