Top Tier Law Firm, immediate need3+ years T&E experience, hybrid excellent benefits package
Assists the Trusts & Estates (T&E) attorneys and Fiduciary Accountants in the administration of estates and trusts, and works on personal client estate planning matters and charitable foundation matters under attorney supervision.
- Prepares petition and related papers to probate clients’ wills;
- Compiles exhibits to Form 706, the United States Estate (and Generation-Skipping Transfer) Tax Return, and Form 709, the United States Gift Tax Return, among other tax forms;
- Assists attorneys and Fiduciary Accountants with identification, valuation and collection of estate assets;
- Assists with administration of trusts by keeping track of trust information, including trust assets, current trustees, grantor trust status, GST-exempt status, etc.;
- Assists with Grantor Retained Annuity Trusts (GRATs) by compiling support for value of contributed / distributed assets for funding and annuity payments; creating annuity payment schedule; tracking in calendar; and sending annuity payment reminders;
- Assists with administration of intra-family loans and tracks annual interest payment due dates, as well as maintains documentation calculating accrued interest and repayments of interest and principal;
- Creates first drafts of various T&E practice documents including but not limited to : cover letters, powers of attorney, health care proxies, living wills, unanimous written consents, bills, summaries of wills and trust agreements, trustee appointment / resignation / removal instruments, crummey notices, promissory notes, GRAT agreements, various ancillary GRAT documents, and debt forgiveness letters;
- Creates execution versions of various documents for signature including proofing for spelling errors, formatting, pagination, correct numbering of sections, cross-references, etc.;
- Maintains T&E files including digital document folders and the inventory of documents in storage;
- Creates and indexes binders;
- Assists with creation / editing of PowerPoint presentations;
- Administers and coordinates regular updates to T&E department form documents; and
- Performs other duties as requested.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred;
- Three + years of applicable experience at minimum;
- Superior organizational skills;
- Excellent attention to detail;
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint, as well as Hot Docs and Number Crunchers;
- Strong verbal and writing skills;
- Ability to deal discreetly with confidential information;
- Ability to respond promptly to multiple requests from attorneys and Fiduciary Accountants on various matters; and
- Ability to work additional hours, as needed.
