POSITION SUMMARY

The Human Resources Generalist provides day-to-day support for HR operations and employee relations. This role assists in recruitment, onboarding, benefits administration, compliance, and general HR functions to ensure a positive employee experience and support the overall mission of the university. The HR Generalist acts as a resource for employees and managers while ensuring compliance with policies and employment regulations.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Supports people initiatives to attract, develop, measure, engage, and retain high-performing employees to meet the mission and goals of the university.
  • Provides friendly, quality, and accurate guidance to employees and students.
  • Manages the talent acquisition process, including ATS, job postings, and proactive recruitment for hard-to-fill positions.
  • Support hiring managers with interview best practices and compliance with employment laws.
  • Enhance and deliver new hire onboarding and orientation programs to ensure smooth transitions for employees.
  • Serve as the first point of contact for employee questions regarding policies, benefits, and HR procedures.
  • Provide guidance on routine employee relations issues and escalate complex matters as appropriate.
  • Conduct exit interviews and analyze trends to provide recommendations for improvement.
  • Support leave administration processes (FMLA, ADA, workers’ compensation, etc), ensuring compliance and clear communication with employees and managers.
  • Assist with compliance programs such as EEO tracking, annual reporting, and training compliance requirements.
  • Coordinate semi-annual compliance process and provide reporting to ensure timely completion of all participants.
  • Coordinate performance management processes, including Introductory Period Evaluations and Annual Evaluations, by tracking timelines and assisting managers with documentation.
  • Assists in developing and delivering employee / leadership training sessions on HR policies, compliance, etc.
  • Serve as a resource for benefits and coordinate the open enrollment process.
  • Maintain HRIS data integrity and generate reports to support decision-making.
  • Participates in the University Title IX compliance program and process.
  • Contributes to HR projects, initiatives, and events as assigned.
  • Partner with HR leadership to identify opportunities for improved HR service delivery.
  • Provide general administrative support to the HR Director and department.
  • Provides guidance and support for other positions within the HR department as needed.

REQUIREMENTS

  • 2–4 years of previous Human Resources experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of HR practices and employment laws required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field preferred (equivalent experience considered).
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Experience with HRIS systems preferred.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Team-oriented and able to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
