The Psychiatrist (Mental Health) for the Men’s Community Reintegration Program under the County of Los Angeles Department of Mental Health provides psychiatric care to adults with mental health needs who have a forensic background. The goal of the program is to support treatment and rehabilitation rather than incarceration.
The psychiatrist works as part of a multidisciplinary team —including therapists, case managers, nurses, and prescribers—to evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients in field-based and community settings. Responsibilities include conducting mental health assessments, prescribing and managing psychotropic medications, monitoring patient progress, and collaborating with the team to create and adjust treatment plans.
Field visits are followed by flexible documentation time, which can be completed remotely. Physicians participate in morning reports, case consultations, and coordination efforts to ensure comprehensive and patient-centered care.
