Mainframe Production Support Engineer

About the role

This position requires the successful candidate to work on a W2 directly with FDM. We cannot accept C2C, 1099 or employment sponsorship (eg. H1-B) for this position.

Job Overview :

FDM Group is seeking experienced Mainframe Production Support Engineers . The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mainframe technologies, hands-on experience in production support, and the ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex issues in a mission-critical environment.

Key Responsibilities :

• Provide day-to-day production support for mainframe applications and systems.
• Monitor batch jobs, resolve abends, and ensure timely completion of production cycles.
• Perform analysis and root cause identification for recurring issues, implementing permanent fixes where possible.
• Collaborate with development, infrastructure, and business teams to support incident resolution and process improvements.
• Develop and maintain job control language ( JCL ) scripts, IBM utilities, and related mainframe workflows.
• Document processes, incident resolutions, and technical solutions to ensure knowledge transfer and operational efficiency.
