Summary / Objective :
The Behavioral Health Residential Assistant teammate is a member of a multidisciplinary team involved in providing quality care for youth in a residential environment.
This position provides continuous resident care, supervision, interaction, and role modeling; and is responsible for providing structure to and observation of residents that enter treatment.
Essential functions :
Ensure the wellbeing of residents and provide a safe, positive, supportive, and structured environment.Serve as a resource for new residents working alongside with the clinical and nursing team - introducing them to other residents and teammates, explaining programs and encouraging participation.Be an active participant as part of the treatment team, providing continuous resident care, supervision, and interaction.Demonstrate a positive, empathetic, and professional attitude towards residents and teammates always. When resident needs are not met, acknowledge and work to resolve concerns.Act as a role model by applying de-escalation techniques, using active listening skills, using appropriate tone and volume of voice, providing a high frequency and variety of positive reinforcements, maintaining appropriate boundaries, and promoting a positive culture.Recognize crisis situations and provide appropriate interventions based on training and experience.Assist in monitoring and maintaining the safety and security of the residents and the facility in collaboration with teammates.Recognize that resident safety is a top priority by conducting safety rounds, ensuring these rounds are conducted at intervals in accordance with individualized supervision guidelines (e.g., hall rounds every 15-minutes)Preparation of snacks and meals.Document activities and observed behaviors on shift in the general shift report accurately.Provide transportation for residents or coordinate transportation with appropriate staff members, as required.Perform periodic inspections of resident rooms and the facility, and work with the facility leadership team to develop plans to address problems / concerns, as needed.Assist with AWOL identification and intervention.Assist with life skills development and discharge planning.Facilitate resident phone calls as assigned.Maintain ongoing, current, and required training for best practice service delivery.Perform other duties as assigned.Competency (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities) :

The Behavioral Health Residential Assistant position may be a full-time, non-exempt (hourly) position.Typical work schedule, including days and hours worked, will vary, and will be dependent upon company / facility and / or resident need(s).The Behavioral Health Residential Assistant position is an overtime eligible position. All overtime must be approved by the immediate supervisor in charge before being worked. All overtime worked will be paid in accordance with applicable Federal or State wage and hour laws as determined by the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).Travel :
Must possess a current valid drivers license in good standing in state of employment and be insurable by the designated carrier.The Behavioral Health Residential Assistant position may require occasional travel up to 20%, including transportation of residents to appointments and / or scheduled activities within the local area.No overnight travel will be required for this position.Any motor vehicle accident while driving for company business must be reported immediately to your manager or manager on duty.Required Education and Experience :
Minimum of one (1) year of experience in a similar position in a behavioral healthcare Setting preferred.General knowledge of Microsoft Office suite (including Outlook, Teams, and Word).High school diploma or equivalent.Valid drivers license in the state of Ohio.
