Summary :
The Occupational Therapist is responsible for the evaluation and treatment of child, adolescent, adult and geriatric patient with developmental, neurologic and musculoskeletal disorders. The occupational therapist restores patient’s functional ability, alleviates pain and prevents disabilities by planning and administering medically prescribed occupational therapy through the use of therapeutic treatments and modalities. The occupational therapist is responsible for assisting with program development, in servicing staff and for community education.
Typical Schedule :
4 days / week, normal working hours. No weekends / no on-call.

Possess knowledge of occupational therapy procedures and treatment approaches.
Competency reviews. Educational experiences.
Assess and document occupational therapy evaluations and procedures.
Chart Audit. EMR evaluation completion per patient.
Recommend change in diagnostic and therapeutic procedures to physician and / or RN.
Chart Audit of interdepartmental communications.
Modify treatment plan accordingly.
Documentation. Chart Audit.
Educate patient and family in diagnosis and self care.
Patient satisfaction survey results.
Demonstrate ability to organize and establish priorities to perform work in a timely and orderly manner.
Task completion within time expectation given.
Consistently provide Occupational Therapy care according to established competencies, ethical dimensions of practice, policies and procedures; demonstrate working knowledge of equipment necessary in providing care.
Competency reviews.
Supervise Occupational Therapy Assistant.
360 review with PTA. Supervision documentation.
Display a positive attitude and communicate with patients and other staff in a professional manner.
360 reviews. Satisfaction surveys.
Monitor patient insurance and need for a prior authorization. Assist in the completion of prior authorization to ensure adequate payment for services.
No payment denials for services rendered.
Ensure that patient care area is safe and clean.
Facility walk through reports.
Make sure that area is prepared for patients by stocking linens and putting away unneeded items.
Department walk through reports.
Complete EMR documentation in a timely manner as outlined in documentation policy and procedure.
No infractions of departmental policy.
Submits accurate charge sheets on a daily basis.
Charge ticket review.
Inform rehab manager need for inventory supplies.
Supply requisitions.
Provide inservice education to medical, hospital and contract agency staff.
Documentation of inservice participation and attendance kept in continuing education file.
Ensure proper functioning and cleanliness of equipment.
Equipment repair checklist. Work order submissions.
Demonstrate understanding of departmental budget.
Productivity worksheets.
Maintain appropriate certifications and continuing education credits.
Documentation up to date of credits and certifications.
Promote an environment of teamwork and positive communication.
360 reviews. Patient satisfaction surveys.
Comply with department Infection Control Standards.
No infractions.
Participate in program development to support increasing departmental scope of services.
Participation in committees to facitilate program development. Participation in continuing education opportunities to expand scope of practice.

The worker in the Occupational Therapy Department must be in good physical and mental health and able to withstand moderate physical activity.
