The Environmental Intern will support Barrett Paving's environmental team in implementing sustainable practices and ensuring compliance with environmental regulations. This internship offers hands-on experience in environmental monitoring, data analysis, and project support within the construction and paving industry.

Main Responsibilities

• Assist in conducting environmental site assessments and inspections to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
• Collect and analyze environmental data related to air quality, water runoff, soil conditions, and waste management.
• Support the development and implementation of environmental sustainability initiatives and best practices.
• Help prepare environmental reports, permits, and documentation for regulatory agencies.
• Participate in team meetings and contribute ideas for improving environmental performance on project sites.
• Assist in training and educating field personnel on environmental compliance and safety protocols.
• Conduct research on environmental regulations and emerging industry standards relevant to paving and construction.

Qualifications

Currently pursuing a degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Sustainability, or a related field. Basic knowledge of environmental regulations and construction industry practices is a plus. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. Willingness to work outdoors and visit construction sites as needed.
