PICU RN Job Details

Location : Portland, OR 97239 (Oregon nursing jobs)

Facility : Leading Level I Pediatric Trauma Center

Unit : 8N Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (20 beds)

Position Type : Travel Registered Nurse (RN) contract

Start Date : November 11, 2025

End Date : February 10, 2026

Contract Length : 13 weeks

Shift : 3x12 hour night shifts (19 : 00 – 07 : 30)

Hours per Week : 36

Weekend Requirement : Yes

Floating : Required to NICU and other pediatric units

Charting System : EPIC

Scrubs : Provided for OR

Estimated Weekly Pay : $2200–$2360 per week

PICU RN Qualifications

Minimum 2 years of recent PICU nursing experience (including CVICU and post-op cardiac patients)

Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (Oregon or compact state; pending license accepted with proof of application)

BLS and PALS certifications required; NRP preferred

Proficiency with Epic charting system

Ability to float to NICU and pediatric units as needed

Professional references required

No background or license issues

First-time travel nurses accepted with required experience

PICU RN Responsibilities

Provide expert nursing care to critically ill neonatal, pediatric, and young adult patients in a pediatric ICU setting

Perform bedside procedures : central / arterial line placement, lumbar puncture, intubation / extubation, CRRT, ECMO cannulation / decannulation, chest exploration, and other emergent procedures

Operate and monitor advanced medical equipment : Hamilton G5 Ventilators, DirectLink ICP Monitors, Artic Sun Targeted Temperature Management, Baxter Prismaflex Machines

Collaborate with a multidisciplinary healthcare team including intensivists, respiratory therapists, nutritionists, and specialists

Float to NICU and other pediatric units as required

Maintain accurate and timely documentation using EPIC

Deliver family-centered care and provide support to patients and their families
