Objective
Primary duties of the position include but are not limited to : Manage all aspects of the Employee Development Process and training staff
Responsibilities
- Strategically and effectively manage overall development process to ensure all employees receive appropriate training for their positions
- Assist in strategy development, assessment, implementation and revision
- Metric establishment, tracking, benchmarking, evaluation and improvement
- Manage the PDP process companywide ensuring all employees have PDP goals related to specific business unit objectives and are achieving PDP targets through training, mentoring and coaching activities
- Assist with evaluations
- Assist competency assessments
- Identify gaps in performance
- Coach managers, foremen and leadmen on assessing and developing
- Rigorously follow up to assure PDP’s are meaningful and completed
- Continually investigate methods for “objective” assessments vs subjective assessments
- Plan, design and implement training courses that are in alignment with business objectives of department and division managers. This includes identification of needs, recording keeping, delivery of training when appropriate and other related activities.
- Lead training staff by setting training objectives and goals. Coordinate training for employees with MacAllister training team and with outside training vendors
- Manage MAPS program for all technicians by working with department and division managers to plan, schedule and conduct technical and safety training courses
- Oversee the mentoring of Think Big students to ensure they are progressing in DLMS and the mentoring and job assignments they receive during their internship is in alignment with college course schedule
- Manage DLMS to ensure it is being utilized effectively by all groups, individuals are obtaining certifications from Caterpillar and MacAllister is receiving a return on that investment
- Provide coaching and mentoring to employees and managers
- Develop and deliver regular training for management group in human resources, leadership skills, MacAllister management process and policies, and other needed soft skills courses
- Produce reports for executive team related to overall company training goals and metrics as defined by the executive team
- Determine metrics whereby we can monitor the effectiveness of training
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a related field5 or more years of experience in adult instruction and instructional designSolid understanding of MacAllister Training programsExcellent platform training and coaching skillsDedicated self starter with the ability to work independently without the need for daily direct supervision and a strong sense of urgency.Great leadership skills with the ability to lead the training staff to achieve goals and targetsExcellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization.Strong critical thinking skills, horsepower, and intelligence to bring goals and objectives to conclusion to support the goals and culture of the company.Above average creativity and ability to think outside the box to develop new ideas and techniques to meet training objectivesExcellent computer skills, including experience using Microsoft Office software, Caterpillar software packages and other company specific software programs.Good organizational, coordination and administrative skillsThe duties and responsibilities described here are not a comprehensive list, and the scope of the job may change as necessitated by business demands.
