Location : North Houston - Greenspoint

Department : Finance / Accounts Receivable

Reports to : AR Manager

Employment Type : Full-Time

About The Role

We're looking for an experienced Credit And Collections Specialist to join our Finance team. In this role, you'll be responsible for managing collections activities for a portfolio of customer accounts, ensuring timely payments while maintaining positive relationships. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, proactive, and skilled at balancing assertiveness with excellent customer service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage collections for current and past due balances across an assigned portfolio of accounts to achieve monthly departmental goals.
  • Communicate with customers professionally via phone and email to collect payments and resolve outstanding balances.
  • Maintain accurate and organized customer records, including updated contact information and account notes.
  • Research and resolve payment discrepancies, perform account reconciliations, and address customer inquiries and disputes promptly.
  • Evaluate creditworthiness of new customers to determine credit limits, set payment terms, and complete account setup in the ERP system.
  • Support the AR Manager with periodic credit reviews of existing customers.
  • Build and maintain strong internal and external relationships to support collection efforts and enhance customer satisfaction.
  • Cross-train in cash application to provide backup coverage to the Cash Application Specialist.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of Credit And Collections experience required.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel (including pivot tables and VLOOKUP).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience using Dun & Bradstreet and other credit reporting agencies.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
