Med / Surg RN Job Details

Location : Kansas City, KS 66112 (Kansas City healthcare jobs)

Assignment Length : 13 weeks

Healthcare Setting : Medical-Surgical (Med / Surg) Unit

Shift : 12-hour day shifts (3 shifts per week)

Weekly Hours : 36

Estimated Weekly Pay : $1800-$1930

Registered Nurse Qualifications

Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (Kansas or compact state preferred)

BLS Certification (required prior to first shift)

ACLS Certification (required prior to first shift)

Minimum of 2 years of recent Med / Surg or bedside clinical experience

Strong assessment, documentation, and communication skills

Med / Surg RN Responsibilities

Perform comprehensive nursing assessments on all patients within 8 hours of admission to develop individualized care plans

Deliver high-quality, patient-centered care utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation

Supervise and provide direction to Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs), Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs), and orientees

Document all assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately and promptly

Participate in interdisciplinary healthcare team conferences and contribute to patient rehabilitation programs

Initiate and coordinate discharge planning and patient / family education from the day of admission

Promote a safe environment by adhering to hospital safety policies and procedures

Support a positive team environment and participate in unit team-building activities

Assume charge nurse responsibilities as needed following orientation

Engage in ongoing professional development and continuing education
