Psychiatrist – Birmingham, AL
Inpatient / Outpatient with Clinical Trials – PI Role
River Region Psychiatry Associates is seeking a Board-Certified (or Board-Eligible) Psychiatrist to join our team in Birmingham, Alabama . This is a full-time position with a strong clinical focus in both inpatient and outpatient psychiatry , complemented by opportunities to participate in clinical research as a Primary Investigator .
Position Highlights :
- Primary Role : Inpatient and Outpatient Psychiatry
- Research Component : Serve as Primary Investigator (PI) on clinical trials (part-time commitment)
- Schedule : Monday – Friday
- Call : 1 night per week (average), 1 weekend per month (average)
- Services Supported : ECT, TMS, Spravato®
- Team Support : Mid-level provider supervision and administrative support
Qualifications :
MD or DO with completion of Psychiatry residencyBoard Certified or Board Eligible in PsychiatryInterest or experience in clinical trials and research (PI role)Eligible for medical licensure in AlabamaWhy Join Us?

Requirements : Qualifications :
Board-certified psychiatrist or neurologistActive, unrestricted U.S. medical licenseExperience in clinical trials and / or community-based research (preferred)Commitment to addressing health disparities and improving mental health care accessFamiliarity with GCP, HIPAA, and clinical trial regulationsExperience
Proven track record in psychiatric or behavioral health research, with experience obtaining and managing externally funded protocols, preferably pharmaceutical-sponsored.Demonstrated expertise in community-based participatory research, health disparities, or chronic psychiatric conditions.Experience with qualitative, mixed methods, or multidisciplinary research approaches.Strong leadership, collaboration, and communication skill
