About Kent Police Department
The Kent Police Department serves the eighth most ethnically diverse city in the nation. As a majority BIPOC city with over 130 languages spoken, we seek to hire candidates that respect and reflect the community we serve. A heart for service is the core trait we are looking for in candidates. Before they even enter the police academy, our new hires participate in an 8-week community immersion program in which they partner with local non-profit, direct service providers to serve the community. Kent Police Officers are part of the community, not just enforcers of laws. The City of Kent is committed to promoting equity in all government services, with an understanding of the unique importance of centering equity and social justice in providing police services to all members of our community. Ideal candidates should have a demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. We offer great benefits, generous leave, and regular pay increases.
