We are currently seeking :

A Utility Maintenance Mechanic, who, under general supervision, performs a variety of semi-skilled labor in the installation, maintenance, and repair of water Distribution / Collection systems, Water / Wastewater treatment plants, and according to job specifications and technical codes.

Your responsibilities will include :

• Performing a variety of semi-skilled labor in the installation, maintenance, and repair of water distribution and collection systems, sewer systems, lift stations, pumps, utility meters, and other components.
• Working independently, and makes appropriate decisions based on work experience; duties will vary according to job assignment and individual skills.
• Performing maintenance and repairs within scope of authority, and in accordance with all safety regulations and procedures; notifying supervisors of repair problems beyond the scope of authority.
• Identifying and repairing leaks or breaks in the distribution and collection system; clearing obstructions; replacing and repairing pipes, hydrants and valves; locating and marking sewer and water lines.
• Operating and maintaining a variety of specialized equipment in accordance with all safety regulations and procedures; identifying and reporting mechanical problems requiring additional repair.
• Ensuring that safety rules and regulations are followed; utilizing proper safety precautions in all work performed; reporting safety hazards, equipment problems and emergency situations.
• Ensuring that hazardous materials are cleaned up and stored according to City policy and procedures; responding to emergencies as needed and performing tasks in the interest of public safety and property protection during emergencies.
• May coordinate work of maintenance crew and assign specific tasks to crew members.
• Hours : Monday through Friday, 7 : 30 am to 4 : 00 pm, rotating on call position that may include holidays or weekends.
• Regular and timely attendance is required.

Requirements and Skills :

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :

Education and Experience :

High School diploma or equivalent; and two years' experience in the maintenance of infrastructure systems, preferably with the City of San Angelo; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
