    Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • To construct and maintain energized overhead and underground distribution lines effectively and efficiently.
  • Read and understand geographical maps, staking sheets, specification sheets, complex diagrams, and all circuits in the system.
  • Prepare and set poles for new service.
  • Restore power in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Repair outdoor lights and install secondary arrestors.
  • Assist with line construction.
  • Responsible for new meter sets and meters.
  • Assist with switching procedures when necessary.
  • Perform the duty of stand-by or on-call in rotation with other crew members.
  • Perform work duties of crew chief and service technician in their absence.
  • Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Must have a minimum of five years' prior experience.
  • Must take and successfully complete apprenticeship training and spend one year as a lineman.
  • Ability to interact courteously and professionally with the public and to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted during work.
  • Knowledge of work methods, occupational hazards, and safety codes for performing line crew operations and maintenance work.
  • Use software applications such as work order systems, Microsoft Office programs, and smart devices.
  • Valid Class A CDL and driver's license required.
  • Must have or receive CPR and First Aid certification.
  • Working Conditions :

  • Work is performed primarily outdoors, sometimes in inclement weather conditions.
  • Position requires competing demands; may require occasional work beyond regular business hours.
  • Must be able to lift and move heavy equipment.
  • (Candidates will be evaluated based on the skills and competencies necessary to fulfill the role's responsibilities. Candidates who do not meet the minimum assessment criteria may be considered for a lower-level position.)
