First Citizens Sponsor Finance provides cash flow and asset based senior debt for private equity-backed transactions in the middle market throughout the United States
The role of Managing Director, Relationship Manager - Sponsor Finance is responsible for developing acquiring and managing and enhancing Sponsor Finance relationships with middle market private equity firms via . Develops and maintaining / employing an active prospect list, client outreach plan and quality referral sources. The Managing Director role is the primary contact to provide products and services which support the unique financial needs of our private equity clients. Providing a single point of contact for financial sponsors to access the Bank's cash flow and asset-based lending solutions as well as debt capital markets and treasury management. This position collaborates with various corporate partners to build and manage full banking relationships. The individual will act as a Deal team lead and will be responsible for mentoring and providing guidance or resource for less experienced team members.
Responsibilities
Sales & Marketing - Utilizes direct calling and centers of influence (COIs) to develop relationships and generate financing for clients. Identifies sales opportunities through clients and referral partners. Stays informed on market and industry trends, and develops strategies based on changing market needs.
Relationship Development - Maintains and develops influential relationships within the market to create sales and referral opportunities. Manages customer and prospect relationships, referring sales partners or other associates as appropriate to carry sales relationships to completion.
Operations and Administration - Comply with all regulations, bank policies, procedures and delegated authorities to manage risk related to credit, operational, reputational, regulatory and legal aspects of personal interactions, customer transactions and financial exposures. Complete required training by established deadlines.
Loan Underwriting / Structuring Support - Works in partnership with underwriting and portfolio management teams to structure, underwrite, present for credit approval, and negotiate legal documents for new and existing transactions
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree and 10 years of experience in Commercial Banking, Relationship Management, Sales OR High School Diploma or GED and 14 years of experience in Commercial Banking, Relationship Management, Sales
Preferred :
Bachelor’s Degree preferably in Finance, Accounting, or Economics
MBA is a plus
10 years of experience calling on or working with middle market private equity clients
Local and non-local travel to meet with clients or associates
Previous formal credit training, lending or underwriting experience preferred
The base pay for this position is generally between $275,000.00 and $325,000.00. Actual starting base pay will be determined based on skills, experience, location, and other non-discriminatory factors permitted by law. For some roles, total compensation may also include variable incentives, bonuses, benefits, and / or other awards as outlined in the offer of employment.
