Job description

Job Title : MQ AdministratorJob Location : Richmond, VAJob Duration : 12 Months (possibility of extension)Job Summary :

  • At the intermediate level, an client MQ administrator should be proficient in configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting client MQ across multiple environments, including high-availability (HA) and clustering.

Technical Skills :

  • Advanced Configuration : Managing distributed queue managers, advanced channel configurations, and multi-instance queue managers.
  • High Availability & Clustering : Setting up and managing HA environments, queue manager clusters, and disaster recovery (DR) strategies.
  • Advanced Security : Implementing SSL / TLS encryption, OAM security policies, and integrating LDAP for authentication.
  • Performance Tuning : Optimizing queue manager and channel configurations for high throughput and low latency.
  • Integration & Automation : Developing scripts using Python, Bash, or PowerShell for automated monitoring and maintenance.
  • Advanced Troubleshooting : Diagnosing complex messaging failures, dead-letter queues, and performance bottlenecks using tools like dmpmqmsg, strmqtrc, dspmqtrc.
  • Application Support & Development Knowledge : Understanding how applications interact with IBM MQ, including JMS and REST API.
  • Monitoring & Alerting : Using client MQ monitoring tools (client MQ Explorer, Prometheus, Splunk, or Nagios) to track queue performance and generate alerts.
