Job Details

  • Responsible for administration of ionizing radiation for therapeutic purposes as prescribed by the Radiation Oncologist.
  • Accountable for simulation of patients in preparation for radiation therapy, basic patient care, and education.
  • Checks prescription, diagnosis, chart, and patient identification.
  • Explains procedures to patients and reinforces instructions regarding treatment reactions and care.
  • Prepares room and equipment according to prescription, including immobilization devices, blocks, and field sizes.
  • Transfers patients as needed.
  • Verifies treatment Mus and beam energy, noting any prescribed adjustments.
  • Documents treatment Mus cumulative dose, site specific doses, treatment parameters, instructions, diagrams, photos, and billing information.
  • Performs treatment simulation including cerrobend block fabrication.
  • Develops x-rays and port films as needed and files them.
  • Observes and inquires about any unusual patient reactions or events.
  • Assists in maintaining order and cleanliness of the unit and appropriate stock levels.
  • Completes daily, progress, and discharge documentation according to departmental standards.
  • Accurately documents productivity information.
  • Participates in quality and patient safety initiatives and identifies potential areas for improvement.
  • Identifies potential safety hazards and takes appropriate actions.
  • Documents patient plan(s) of care, tests, and examination results in the medical record as directed.
  • Escalates non-routine issues, questions, and concerns to the practice manager or healthcare providers.
  • Ensures safety checklists and quality controls are completed as required.
  • Promotes mission, vision, and values of SCL Health and abides by service behavior standards.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
