As a Strategic Fleet Manager is responsible for the effective management, strategic oversight, and operational excellence of the vehicle fleet owned or leased by the Horrocks. This role ensures optimal vehicle utilization, compliance with safety standards, and cost-effective operations. Working cross-functionally with company stakeholders, third-party fleet providers, and legal / risk teams, the Manager will lead initiatives to enhance safety, efficiency, and reliability across the entire fleet portfolio, including specialty and heavy equipment assets.
What are the core responsibilities for the role?
Serve as the primary point of contact for all fleet-related matters, including driver communications, stakeholder updates, and leadership reportingPartner with Trilon Fleet Leadership , Organization Leadership , and Holman Fleet Management Company (FMC) for strategic program support and executionLead the transition and integration of new acquisitions into the Holman programManage strategic rollout of supplementary programs, preferred vendor solutions, and vehicle upfitting initiativesOversee vehicle registration, licensing, and insurance documentation across all company-leased vehiclesEnsure all documentation (e.g., insurance, maintenance logs, registrations, MVRs, driver details) is current and accurately uploaded to the fleet management systemManage the database of all company-owned and leased assets, including specialty vehicles, heavy equipment, and technology-enabled platforms such as LiDAR and survey equipmentConduct regular analysis of vehicle utilization and identify opportunities for optimization, including transitions from mileage reimbursement to company vehiclesStandardize upfitting packages and analyze cost savings associated with consolidated solutions.Collaborate with Procurement and Finance to manage the fuel program and associated rebate opportunitiesCollaborate with EHS (Environmental Health & Safety) and Risk / Legal teams to implement and communicate vehicle safety policies, accident prevention strategies, and incident reporting proceduresMonitor driver safety metrics, maintain MVR compliance, and ensure all insured drivers meet corporate standardsLead safety and compliance communications across fleet personnel and maintain alignment with industry standardsManage and monitor telematics program adoption; generate reports and insights based on usage and KPIsMaintain a centralized fleet and equipment database with real-time visibility and reporting capabilitiesMonitor agreed-upon KPIs for fleet and safety operations, including FMC performance metricsParticipate in regular Fleet Leadership calls to provide company updates, review industry trends, and align on continuous improvement goalsFacilitate internal fleet team meetings to drive knowledge sharing, promote best practices, and ensure alignment with corporate goalsOccasional travel may be required to company sites, vendor meetings, or industry conferencesQualifications, Skills, and Competencies :
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Logistics, Supply Chain, or related field; equivalent experience considered3+ years of experience in fleet management, transportation, or related fieldProven experience managing third-party fleet management companies (FMCs), preferably with HolmanStrong understanding of fleet compliance, safety regulations, and risk managementExcellent project management, communication, and stakeholder engagement skillsProficiency in telematics systems and fleet management softwareStrong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on cost control and process improvementExperience managing diverse vehicle types, including specialty and heavy equipmentFamiliarity with environmental and safety compliance (DOT, OSHA, etc.)Experience in multi-site or multi-company fleet operationsValid driver’s license and a clean driving recordWhy would a candidate want this job?
