POSITION SUMMARY
Responsible for inspecting, maintaining, troubleshooting, servicing and repairing commercial HVAC-R equipment. Work will include start up, commissioning, adjusting, repair, modification and or replacement of HVAC equipment including inter-connecting piping, electrical and control wiring. Communication and proper documentation with great file management skills is vital. This position is an extension to the service department and all correspondence and scheduling will come from the Catonsville office.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Ability to read wiring diagrams and electrical schematics, blueprints and / or technical manuals to perform necessary workConducts preventive maintenance, service, repair and troubleshooting of commercial HVAC equipment and systemsPerforms installation of HVAC equipmentPerforms start-ups on all new and potentially old equipment depending on the nature of theCommissions thus said equipment and documents allAssist with quality control of the particular project of all MEC2Accurately estimates time and material requirements for repairs andMaintains a complete set of necessary tools applicable to the trade and is proficient in their useFollows all safety practices and adheres to all safety relatedADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for company assets used performing HVAC service workHolds a valid drivers licenseMakes purchases at local supply houses in accordance with company policyCompletes neat, detailed and accurate service reports and submits them in a timely mannerRoutinely works independently while performing HVAC serviceRoutinely interacts with clientsConducts self-study (reading, research and practice) to improve and maintain technical proficiencyUtilize all software such as Plan grid to become as efficient as possibleEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Technical school graduate or successful completion of an HVAC Apprenticeship programHVAC Journeyman and or Masters licenseUniversal CFC CertificationMinimum of 5 - years commercial HVAC experience at the Journeyman levelKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of HVAC fundamentals to include basic thermodynamics and psychometrics, basic electricity, ability to perform electrical, controls and refrigerant circuit diagnosticsProficiency in performing preventive maintenance, repairs and diagnostics on commercial HVAC equipment with cooling capacities in excess of 25-tons such as gas / electric packaged equipment (constant & variable volume), split systems, single and multi-zone ductless spilt systems, heat pumps and all related controlsProficiency in the preventive maintenance, repair and diagnostics of VAV terminal units, light commercial boilers, gas and oil burners, circulating pumps and exhaust fans of various sizesProficiency in the diagnostics, repair and installation of semi-hermetic compressorsProficiency in performing preventive maintenance with limited repair and diagnostic abilities on VRF systems, data center precision cooling units, commercial humidifiers / dehumidifiers and DDC systemsKnowledge of tools and equipment needed to perform service and repair on HVAC equipment and systems.Ability to understand written sentences and paragraphs in work-related documentsAble to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of solutions and approaches to problemsAble to perform mathematical calculationsPHYSICAL AND MENTAL JOB REQUIREMENTS
