Job Title : Claims Representative – Workers Compensation

Location : Long Beach, CA (On-site)

Contract Duration : Until 12 / 19 / 2025

Primary Purpose

Responsible for processing low-level workers compensation claims to determine benefits due, ensuring claims are adjudicated according to company standards and industry best practices, and identifying opportunities for subrogation and settlement negotiation under general supervision.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities

  • Process low-level workers compensation claims, determine compensability and benefits due, and file necessary documentation with state agencies.
  • Monitor reserve accuracy and develop action plans for claim resolution and return-to-work initiatives.
  • Approve claim payments in accordance with client contracts and applicable regulations.
  • Administer subrogation of claims and negotiate settlements as needed.
  • Maintain professional communication with claimants and clients regarding claim actions.
  • Ensure claim files are properly documented and accurately coded.
  • Process low-level lifetime or defined-period medical claims, including physician filings and treatment decisions based on utilization review.
  • Build and maintain professional client relationships.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
  • Support organizational quality programs.
  • Travel as required.
  • Qualifications

    Education & Licensing :

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university preferred.
  • Experience :

  • Minimum of 2 years of claims management experience, or equivalent education and experience.
  • Successful completion of Claims Representative training required.
  • Skills & Knowledge :

  • Working knowledge of regulations, offsets, deductions, disability duration, medical management practices, and Social Security / Medicare application procedures.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, including presentation skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other PC applications.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Effective interpersonal skills and teamwork mindset.
  • Ability to meet or exceed service expectations.
  • Work Environment

    Mental : Strong conceptual thinking, sound judgment, multitasking, and ability to meet deadlines under pressure.

    Physical : Frequent computer use; travel as needed.

    Auditory / Visual : Requires good hearing, vision, and verbal communication skills.

    A credit security clearance confirmed via background credit check is required for this position.
