Summary
The Logistics Planner facilitates communication between production, sales and distribution stages to promote a healthy and efficient supply chain. Provides transportation for products at minimum cost consistent with sound operating practices, safety and performance Daily planning and dispatch of shipments for inbound packaging / raw materials / ingredients, and outbound finished goods to and from our LVF shipping and receiving facilities while executing the planned strategy.
Understand and execute defined financial goals and key metrics related to transportation execution management, including but not limited to load factors, mode usage, and route guide compliance. Participate in project teams as needed and train new employees on the LVF systems and processes.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Dispatch and tracking for all assigned inbound and outbound shipments. Includes but is not limited to : carrier selection, route guide compliance strive to utilize awarded carriers, appointment scheduling, track & trace, delivery confirmation, exception monitoring, document analysis, rate adherence and new lane implementation.
- Measure and analyze KPI’s for carrier performance with goal of improving cost and service.
- Key point of contact for communication back to customer service and deployment planning regarding carrier failures or issues
- Interface with facility on issues regarding loads not covered and / or picked up
- Execute freight payment monitoring, audit and settlement and freight claims
- Participate in transportation related projects and testing, related to both transportation system changes and changes to the systems interface with the transportation system
- Freight Claims identification and resolution
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in business Logistics, Supply Chain Management or related field preferred or alternatively minimum of 2-3 years’ experience in a dispatch / operational environmentExperience with all modes of transportation including : Less-than-Truckload, Truckload, Rail, Air, Ocean, Small ParcelExperience with Transportation Management Systems (TMS) preferredExcellent computer software application skills including : MS Excel, Access, Powerpoint, Word, OutlookProcess oriented with a focus on standardization of procedures and a track record of continuous improvementStrong communication skillsProven problem solving and decision-making skillsAbility to interface with other functional areas including Deployment Planning, Customer Service, and Project TeamsFamiliarity with freight payment and audit processes and proceduresBasic knowledge of freight claims requirements and proceduresUnderstanding of the supply chain, including common obstacles and effective solutionsAbility to professionally and efficiently interact with customers, motor carriers and coworkers.
