About The Position

Job Title : Cardiac Cath RN

License : Active Illinois license required or confirmation of application process initiation

Certifications : BLS, ACLS

Must-Have :

Must have previous cath lab experience.

Must be able to read telemetry strips and titrate drips.

Must know most IV medications.

Experience with peripheral angio cases and interventional radiology and neuro intervention preferred.

Description :

The unit has 2 labs and 6 pre / post beds.

On average, there are 3 cardiac catheterizations and 2 angiographies per day.

Common diagnoses and types of patients include STEMI, stroke, drain placement, line placement, all heart catheterizations, peripheral angiographies, IVC placement, and temporary pacemaker insertion.

There is a charge nurse on each shift, who may take an assignment occasionally.

Cath Lab Technologists are present.

Shifts consist of 8-hour days from 0700 to 1530.

On-call requirements include 2-3 nights per week and every 3rd weekend.

Holiday on-call requirements are 2 holidays per year.

Floating is rare, and staff will not take patient assignments outside of the assigned unit.

Hospital scrubs are provided.

Unit-specific orientation usually lasts 1 week, equating to 4 shifts.

The charting system used is EPIC.

This role is in an acute care setting.

The facility operates under a Trauma Level 2 designation.
